daddy was reading kayla a bedtime story.
k: daddy, you have something in your nose.
d: what is it, a booger?
k: no, i think it's a hair.
d: oh, okay.
daddy starts reading. kayla keeps staring.
daddy still reading. kayla still staring.
k: daddy, that hair is really bothering me.
-------
daddy shows her a video clip on his laptop.
d: see, that's ironman.
k: ironman?
d: yeah, you know, like superman? well, this is ironman.
k: does that mean he irons really fast?
for you:

peyton turns 5 today. i can hardly believe it! i still remember the call we made to tommy after he was born. how can that be 5 years ago? i got to talk to him briefly today and he said " i am getting so many birthday calls today! " peyton, never forget you are loved :)

happy birthday to the best little nephew! can't wait to see you soon ( hopefully )!
they won't stop, look back, and wait for me.

i'm not sure i'm ready for that someday.

he looks like me? tom says he has my asian eyes. other than that, i don't think so.

i climbed on my sister's table and watched daddy drive away to work.
i had hot dogs for breakfast and got ketchup all over my shirt.
i put my diaper in the toilet and tried to flush it. it didn't work, so i did it 3-4 more times until mommy screamed.

i tried to start a fire.
i wouldn't stay in the shopping cart at wal-mart because it is so much more fun running up and down the aisles.
i opened a new box of pringles, the one i was shaking throughout wal-mart, and dumped it on the ground because i was so hungry.

i had dinner on the patio, which later spilled all over the ground. that was totally not my fault...well, maybe a little.

i tried to fit into daddy's shoes.
i took all the caps off all the markers and wrote all over my table and my sister's clipboard.

i still wasn't happy so i used the markers all over my face and got my sister to do the same.
i got out of the bathtub so that i could pull a whole bunch of toilet paper back in the tub with me.
mommy stopped taking pictures and put me straight into bed. i think she might be a tiny bit mad.
i know if i cry enough and say "sorry" in my best little voice and tell her i'll give her a kiss, she won't be mad anymore.
uh-oh. she's still mad.
i better wait until the morning. good night.

k: how long have we been married?
t: huh?
k: how long have we been married?
t: huh?
k: thomas, when i say how long have we been married, you say 2 days, okay?
t: 2 days.
k: right. how long have we been married?
t: huh?
k: stop saying "huh." say 2 days like i told you.
t: 2 days.
k: right. how long have we been married?
t: huh?
k: fine, then. you keep saying "huh" and i'm not playing with you anymore.
t: huh?
then he laughs, little stinker.
i think he loves the fact that he can drive her crazy.
i drive by a little church that's just around the corner from us almost everyday. they use their sign to write messages, that i look forward to reading every time i drive by. i took a picture of this sign back in january.

just seemed appropriate for today.
happy easter everyone.
easter fun and activity at our friend's house today.

again.
but i'm not doing it alone.

and i don't feel the least bit sorry :)
we spent the beautiful day at the zoo. and ( gasp ) i didn't bring my camera. i purposely left it at home. most times when i bring it with me, i find myself looking for a good picture, instead of enjoying what i am actually doing... oh, like spending time with the kids. and i just don't think that's a good thing. so, i have no pictures of lions and tigers and bears ( oh my! ).
but, of course, my camera was just so lonely when we got home from the zoo. so i just had to get a few pictures. hehe.

happy birthday, melissa.

don't you worry - the best is yet to come :)

she went from "what exactly do you want me to do with this?" to

"of course, daddy, i would love to help you wash mom's car."
we train them so well :)
today was a good day. this morning, thomas helped me make pancakes for breakfast.

actually, we just got back from watching "horton hears a who" at the drive-in. if you ever get a chance to go to a drive-in, please do so. it is so much fun. we loaded up the trunk with some blankets and pillows, bought a cheap cardboard pizza, and had popcorn and candy. we all sat in the trunk, snuggling up together to watch the movie. the kids were so excited. this was absolutely a most perfect evening.

all dressed up and ready for her easter party at preschool.
we had a lovely morning with our friends at the desert botanical gardens, in particular the butterfly exhibit.

watching tv, having a snack...
love how they both cross their feet.
that it is so cold where most of you are now. what...27 degrees??? brrr...
here...maybe this will help.

you can just imagine yourself here. but, wait...you could actually be here, if you really wanted to. i mean, wouldn't you just love to be at 74 degrees?
------
this is my shameful ( shameless?? ) attempt to get one of you guys here for a visit. we miss you all terribly.
last night, i made a pot roast and served it with a healthy heaping of good ol' fashioned jasmin rice. that's real rice from the old country. also, i don't allow my children to use forks or spoons...they have to learn at an early age to use chopsticks.
:)
a few months back, thomas was sitting on the floor with his back to the tv. i turned on the tv and the sound came on before the picture appeared on the screen. thomas said, " dad...football." can you guess the channel was ESPN?
even now, everytime we see some people at a park...running around, playing,...with or without a ball...thomas will always say "football."
now, you know that's pretty bad...
"kayla, what if you were stuck on an island with no tv, no toys, no books, no parks, nothing...what 3 things would you bring with you?"
"my baby doll, my barbie, and my suitcase filled with toys and books and movies."
"no, you can't bring a suitcase...you only get 3 things."
"mommy, i don't want to play this game."
"why?"
"because i never want to be somewhere i can only have 3 things. that wouldn't be fun at all."
eating grapes for a snack. they actually love pretty much all fruit, which is a good thing.
today, we went to the park and had a picnic. afterwards, we stopped to get frozen yogurt because i had a coupon, and i just didn't want it to go to waste :). on our way home, thomas fell asleep and kayla was going to go down for her 15 minutes of quiet time.
"mommy, did you have a good time at the park?"
"yes. did you?"
"oh, yes. maybe we should do this everyday."
"i don't know if we can do it everyday. maybe
every once in awhile."
"why not? what else do we have to do?"
----------
i think she's on to something. just imagine...wouldn't it be great if we could all have a picnic lunch and recess everyday??
later, we had a tea party. i cannot believe both of the kids flashed their cheesy, fake camera smile.
do they not look exactly alike?
let's see...
the floors are done, and they are beautiful. i do love them, however they have been a real pain to keep clean. i am trying hard not to be too anal about every smudge i see, realizing that with 2 young children in the house, this would be utterly useless.
the kids and i are feeling much, much better. although when tom came home from work, he complained about not feeling well again. i'm thinking about putting him in one of those biohazard suits everytime he walks in the door, to protect us from his nasty germs :)
tom left his old job on friday and started his new one today.
all 10 loads of laundry are washed, folded, and put away. thank you very much.
the new family room furniture arrived today. very, very comfy.
applications for kayla's elementary school were dropped off and now we wait and see where she got in.
kayla is not thinking about kindergarten, instead she's too busy putting on make-up and wondering "when am i going to find the man i'm going to marry?" ( this is true, people. she asked us that last week, while we were waiting in line to return some items to kohl's. )
thomas used the potty all by himself today. granted, he completely missed the potty, but at least he went into the bathroom. unfortunately, he also slipped on it and fell flat on his back . hopefully, that doesn't traumatize him too much.
he'll also get a haircut sometime this week :)
and, that is what is happening in a nutshell.
i also wanted to thank you all for the emails regarding your favorite pictures. everyone had different takes. it seems like most of you enjoy the stories of our little conversations or our little quirks a lot, so i am going to try to keep up with that.
hope you all are well.
